The rest of the world was in black and white, but we were in screaming color – Taylor Swift

Pulling you in as it is kicking you out, filled with perfect imperfections the canvases of architect and artist, Manuel Guardado, drip with lyrical abstraction. Moods, memories, visions of past, present and future, love and loss, life and laughter- all these softly melt while suddenly exploding into colorful forms and blissfully chunky textures. Indeed, whether bliss or anger Guardado allows his feelings to inhabit his work…a little high, a little low…easy come, easy go…this time a ripple, next time a wave. They wake up your senses while lulling you to sleep, painting dreamy worlds of a sensuality-even eroticism-with the soft passive touches of angels.

Born in 1978 in Mérida and now residing in Guadalajara, Manueal received his art degree from Universidad Jesuita de Guadalajara. His architecture practice is a constant influence in his experimental multidisciplinary approach to art. He has exhibited in over 14 solo shows and 17 collective shows. He is also an active member of Rutas Plasticas Jalisco, an non-profit with a mission to bring art to every corner of Jalisco no matter how small.
